Community Pool to Raise Costs Due to Inflation with the Community in Mind

Rising costs to run the Honey Lake Community Pool will have you paying a bit more this summer. Bob Godman, Public Works Director for the city of Susanville, says minimum wage has increased, the cost of chemicals is up by 30%, and price hikes in electricity have resulted in the pool needing to find a way to remain operational.

Though Reesa Rice, the pool’s Director, says they did not want to hurt your pocketbook or affect the most vulnerable in the community, such as veterans and seniors.  Areas you can expect to see a minimal increase are public and lap swimming and water walking.

The pool is set to open for public swimming on May 15th.

If you are interested to learn more about the operational costs and organization of the pool, the board is set to meet on May 16th at 3 pm in City Hall; an agenda can be found on the City’s Website.
