The National Weather Service has updated the North State Wind Alerts to include a Wind Advisory for the Sacramento Valley and surrounding foothills along with the interior of Humboldt and Del Norte County. There is still a High Wind Watch for Central Siskiyou and Modoc County. The strongest winds are expected in the overnight hours of Wednesday and with gusts in excess of 50 and even over 60 mph there will be the potential for broken tree branches, downed trees and power outages. Like last week, most of the power outages will most likely be in Del Norte, Humboldt County and the mountains.

Traveling in the mountains Thursday? Be prepared for delays and chain requirements especially in the Sierra. Cedar Pass in Modoc County along with mountain passes in Lassen and Plumas County may also see some chain requirements. It’s not out of the question for snow on Scott Mountain Pass on Highway 3 in Trinity County.
