Susanville California Highway Patrol (CHP) is reaching out to the community for assistance in solving two recent theft cases involving a travel trailer and a black Honda CRV. The incidents occurred near SR36 in Westwood between Thursday and Sunday, prompting officers to seek information from potential witnesses.

A local logger reported the theft of their travel trailer, which was later recovered near the intersection of SR36 and 147. Concurrently, a black Honda CRV was reported stolen from the Westwood Trailer Park on December 2nd between 7:30 and 8:00 PM.
If you have witnessed any suspicious activity in relation to these incidents, the Susanville CHP urges you to come forward with information. You can call (530) 252-1800 to share any details that might aid their investigation.

This recent string of thefts serves as a timely reminder for all to be vigilant and take precautions to safeguard your vehicles. The CHP office shares staggering statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which shows that every 32 seconds, a vehicle is stolen.

To minimize the risk of vehicle theft, the Susanville CHP says you can take a few preventative measures, including always taking your vehicle’s key with you and avoiding leaving it inside or on your vehicle. You can also make sure that all windows and doors are securely closed and locked, and consider parking in well-lit areas. Furthermore, refrain from leaving valuables in your vehicle where they are visible from the outside. Above all, never leave your vehicle running unattended.

The Susanville CHP encourages everyone to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement promptly.
