Wildfires are caused by 90% of human-related due to illegal or misused fireworks on public lands, like California’s 18 National Forests, around the 4th of July. Jim Bacon, Director of Public Services for the Pacific Southwest Region, advises that firework displays remain only for the city or local groups.

If you are heading to Lassen National Forest, due to the high water levels, the trails and Roads may be blocked due to lingering snowpack, flooding, or road damage.

Do have a backup plan if your destination does have an area closed. USDA Forest Service advises visitors to carry a fire extinguisher and to report fires
