The Quincy Grove is excited to announce its grand opening on Saturday, February 1, welcoming artists, creators, and innovators to its community makerspace. Located at 567 Lawrence St. 1, the event kicks off at 6 p.m. with a discussion about membership opportunities and the future vision of the space, followed by a live performance by local musician Alex Lemnah at 8 p.m.
Designed as a versatile and collaborative environment, The Grove aims to support a wide range of creative activities. Initially, the focus will be on a ceramics studio and a multi-media space, offering members the resources to engage in pottery, sculpture, painting, and more. The makerspace is a project by local residents Suzanne de Martimprey and Shane Heiman.
Throughout the year, The Grove plans to introduce classes, initially for members but eventually open to the broader community. Experienced artists interested in teaching are encouraged to reach out to the organization. Plans are also in place to expand with an additional creative studio later in the year.
Organizers emphasize that the makerspace is ideal for artists of all levels, whether experienced or beginners, offering a place to develop skills, connect with others, and contribute to Quincy’s creative community.
The Grove will initially offer 50 active creator memberships at $50 per month. These memberships provide individuals with regular access to the creative studios and a chance to influence the space’s direction. Supporters who do not need studio access can join as creative supporters, receiving early updates on community classes.
