Do not be alarmed. Smoke will be visible throughout Susanville today through next week as the fire department teams up with CAL FIRE’s Lassen Modoc Unit to complete a fuels reduction project. Firefighters will be burning vegetation along the Susan River Parkway. Phase 1 will consist of vegetation clean-up, tree pruning, and removing dead and dying flammable materials. Phase 2 will consist of a controlled broadcast burn by fire crews on the eastern portion of the city’s property.
The Parkway will be closed today through Friday, April 28, 2023.
You are asked to use caution when traveling through the area; smoke impacts may reduce visibility in the immediate area.
