As of July 30th, efforts to contain the Stockade Canyon Wildfire burning Northwest of Gerlach have intensified, with three additional crews, including a hotshot team, successfully deployed to strategic locations yesterday. The Bureau of Land Management – Nevada reported that today’s focus will be on securing the fire perimeter and leveraging aerial support to conduct water drops as conditions allow.

Thanks to improved air clarity, crews were able to map the fire more accurately, leading to a revised estimated acreage of 15,238 acres. This reduction is a significant step forward in the containment efforts.

The wildfire’s smoke is currently affecting visibility and air quality across most of the northern Nevada counties. Residents are advised to stay informed about the air quality and take necessary precautions.
