The 50-mile stretch between the Greenville Wye and Jarbo gap has been closed to through traffic for several weeks now after rock slides from inclement weather plagued the highway for a second year in row.

Though Caltrans says crews have completed rock scaling operations approximately 3 miles east of the Butte/Plumas County line and continue removing debris from the area. Most of the work at the slide location between Twain and the Greenville Wye has been completed, with paving operations planned for both locations in the coming weeks.

Work at the slide in Caltrans District 3 in Butte County, located near Cresta, is continuing. This slide involves a significant amount of material, consisting of boulders as large as vehicles. It remains one of the more challenging slide locations.
