Sierra Pacific Industry is bringing a native conifer seedling nursery to the Gazelle area.
One of the Largest landowner and lumber manufacturers, which manages nearly 2%of all land in California, Oregon, and Washington and 2.4 million acres of Timberland in the state, PSI met on May 5th to discuss forestland restoration. Phase one, consisting of the state-of-the-art conifer seedlings nursery to specialize in producing forest restoration, research, and conservation projects, and expectations of planting nearly 6 million seedlings by 2024. The first phase has been granted a 3 million Cal Fire Business Development grant; however, it is expected to cost around 10 million. The nursery will employ ten full-time workers and about 110 seasonal workers.
Corporate Director Andrea Howell for SPI says, “ SPI will work with public and private organizations across the state to assist in their efforts to recover and restore California’s Forest.”
