CAL FIRE is cautioning that if you see smoke near Alturas, Tuesday October 15th, to not be alarmed—it’s part of a planned burn. The Lassen Modoc Unit will be working with Criner Ranch to burn about 100 acres of agricultural land near Fisher Hill and Highway 299.
This is all part of CAL FIRE’s regular efforts to manage fire risks by clearing dead and dry fuels, improving wildlife habitats, and protecting our watersheds. The burn is expected to take just one day, and while smoke might be visible in the Fisher Hill area, about 10 miles west of Alturas, there’s no need to report it.
