The step makes charitable contributions to the organization tax-deductible, allowing individuals, family trusts, and other entities to donate in support of healthcare initiatives in the Lake Almanor Basin and surrounding areas, with eligibility for tax benefits under IRS Code section 170.
The Seneca Healthcare District (SHD), which has served the region for over 70 years, established SHF as a means to support its efforts to provide accessible healthcare to residents and visitors. According to Seneca Healthcare District CEO Shawn McKenzie, the new 501(c)(3) status will help fund projects such as the new hospital facility and expanded healthcare services across the basin.
Chelssa Outland, Executive Director of SHF said, “I’m thrilled that we have reached the final stages of establishing the Seneca Healthcare Foundation. Over the past year, a dedicated team has worked tirelessly to set up the Foundation in a manner that will effectively support the healthcare district and the communities it serves. Each member has played a crucial role, and I am deeply grateful for their hard work and commitment.”
All donations to the Seneca Healthcare Foundation will be directed toward healthcare service improvements in the region. For more information or to contribute, visit senecahealthcarefoundation.org or call 1-833-227-3743 ext. 1600.
