Wednesday’s school day started with a 2-hour delay in Greenville, not due to weather but a threat.
Students headed to class on busses to the Greenville Jr Sr Highschool were rerouted to a safe location, while those already on campus went on lockdown until the all clear was received. Chad Herman, Undersheriff with the Plumas County Sheriff’s OffSheriff’s deputies, contacted the child and family involved in the threat before he arrived at the school. A lengthy conversation verified there was no validity in the claims of a school shooting. Deputies had also been sent to campus out of an abundance of caution. The all-clear for students and staff, though, was given by 10:30.
No action against the child has been taken for the threats, but Undersheriff Herman said it would be up to the school to determine if there will be any disciplinary action taken.
