Safeguarding Forests: Prescribed Burns Progress in Lassen National Forest

114 acres of prescribed burns were successfully completed last week on the Lassen National Forest. Operations begin again today and throughout the week as weather and conditions allow.
Almanor Ranger District plans to continue work on the Hawk West Shore Piles near Lake Almanor today, Eagle Lake Ranger District will continue work on the Diamond Wildland Urban Interface Piles at Diamond Mountain, and Hat Creek Ranger District plan to begin ignitions today on the Butte Hand Thin Piles.
Smoke may be visible from Chester and surrounding communities, and Susanville and surrounding areas.
Smoke will be low to moderate during initial burn periods. Signs will be posted. Please use caution if near these areas while crews work to clean up piles.
