A Red Flag Warning is in effect Friday afternoon for much of Modoc and Lassen counties. A Fire Weather Watch is in effect Saturday for upper elevations of Mono and Alpine counties Gusty winds, low humidity and dry vegetation could allow a fire to start easily and spread rapidly.
If you’re in the affected area: Avoid activities that could create sparks near dry vegetation.
Secure trailer chains so they don’t drag. Use extra caution with outdoor equipment.
Follow local fire restrictions.
A Red Flag Warning does not mean a fire is burning. It means conditions are favorable for rapid fire spread.
