The Quincy Area California Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation after a major traffic collision on State Route 70 at Rush Creek. On April 8, at approximately 6:49 a.m., a report was received about a reckless driver in a dark green Acura swerving and driving in the wrong lane on SR 70 in the Feather River Canyon. An officer was dispatched to intercept the vehicle. Before the officer could intervene, a head-on collision occurred at 6:58 a.m. involving the same Acura.
The driver of the Acura, Jeremy Genn, 53, from Oakdale, and his female passenger collided head-on with a Chevrolet pickup driven by a 62-year-old man from Quincy. The accident happened when Genn entered a blind curve in the wrong lane. The collision caused significant damage and injuries to all parties involved.
All three individuals were airlifted to Enloe Medical Center in Chico, and the vehicles were cleared from the road. The highway was reopened after a cleanup lasting about three hours.
The CHP plans to file charges against Genn for reckless driving resulting in injury. Witnesses or anyone with more information are urged to contact the Quincy CHP through social media or at 530-283-1100. The CHP remains committed to ensuring safety, service, and security on the roads.
