Controlled Burns in Eastern Sierra County
The U.S. Forest Service and Cal Fire will be conducting prescribed burns in eastern Sierra County over the next several days as part of ongoing wildfire prevention and forest management efforts.
Cal Fire Burn Area: Antelope Valley – West of Loyalton
USFS Burn Area: South of Sierraville in the Nichols Mill area
These controlled burns are carefully planned and executed by fire crews to reduce hazardous fuels, improve forest health, and help prevent larger wildfires in the future. Smoke may be visible in surrounding areas.
