Parts of Portola are under a boil water notice this morning. Yesterday a break in the water main occurred at the corner of Gulling and Magnolia. The State Water Resources Control Board, Division of Drinking Water, the Plumas County Health Department, and the City of Portola Water System advise your North Portola homes to only use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking and cooking to avoid any illness caused by contamination in the water.
If you are in the area between Loyalton Street South to Plumas Street and West Street East to Pine Street, you are in the affected zone. Samples of the water have been sent for testing, the district is expecting to have the issue resolved later this afternoon around 3 pm. Notice will go out once confirmed it is safe to drink your tap once again.
You can pick up potable water at the City of Portola, Public Works office at 120 Main St.
