The City of Portola is pleased to announce the start of the 2026 Multi-Jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (MJHMP) Update Project. This effort aims to enhance our community’s safety and resilience against natural disasters.
What’s Happening? The City of Portola is collaborating with Plumas County and five special districts (Grizzly Lake, Indian Valley, Plumas-Eureka, Chester Public Utility, and Feather River Resource Conservation) to update our Local Hazard Mitigation Plans. These updates will help us reduce long-term risks to our people, property, environment, and local economies.
Why is This Important? With an updated and FEMA-approved plan, our communities can apply for pre- and post-disaster mitigation grants, providing more resources to protect and prepare our county.
Get Involved! Planning meetings will begin in early 2025, with the goal of completing the plan by January 2026. Stay informed and learn how you can participate by visiting our project webpage: Plumas County MJHMP. We will keep this page updated with the latest information.
For more details, reach out to your community’s MJHMP lead or contact Lori Pini, our project lead, at [email protected].
Together, we can build a safer, stronger Plumas County.
