PNF Opens Campgrounds While Some Remain Delayed

Plumas National Forest sees a few recreation sites open for the summer season while some get delayed. By the month’s end sites at Wyandotte Campground at the Little Grass Valley Recreation Area, and sites in Sly Creek and Strawberry Campgrounds in the Sly Creek Recreation Area are opening. Yet due to the Dixie fire impacts some will be taking longer to get opened up. Those include the facilities at Lake Davis and in the Feather River Canyon, which were originally scheduled to open this weekend. If you did make reservations already through May 11th you should have received a cancellation notice for these areas. More notices may go out as well, yet the forest service is working with Outdoors in Plumas, who manages these facilities. You can visit outdoors in plumas dot com for more information.
Additionally following a lot of work Elam Campground in the Lassen National forest opens today at 9 am. Forest service crews have had to remove hazardous trees from the site, clean the campgrounds and prepare the facilities for campers. You can now enjoy the area for a day of fishing or camping.
