The Plumas Unified School District is set to discuss the potential pause of its Developer Fee Program during tomorrow’s school board meeting at 4 p.m. The program initially approved to begin on November 10, 2024, would impose fees on new residential, commercial, and industrial construction to generate revenue for the district.
However, following concerns raised by Plumas County officials about the program’s potential impact on local development and the economy, the school district is reconsidering its approach. In response, Acting Superintendent Melissa Leal recommends that the resolution authorizing the Developer Fee Program be rescinded to allow time for further collaboration and discussion.
An intergovernmental meeting between the school district and county representatives is scheduled for October 23 to address these concerns and explore possible alternatives. If the board decides to move forward with pausing the program, any future implementation would require a new public hearing and the adoption of a revised resolution.
