The Lassen National Forest has reported vandalism at Morgan Summit Snowmobile Park, where spray-painted graffiti was discovered on the park’s facilities. The damage highlights the challenges of maintaining public lands, as graffiti is notoriously difficult and expensive to remove. Restoration efforts, if feasible, often fail to return vandalized sites to their original state.
In a statement, forest officials expressed disappointment over the incident, emphasizing the broader impact such actions have. “Defacing any part of the national forest or public land degrades the experience for all visitors and is illegal,” the statement read.
Lassen National Forest is calling on the public to help protect these shared spaces by reporting any illegal activities to their local ranger district office or law enforcement. Officials hope community involvement will deter further incidents and ensure public lands remain preserved for future generations.
