Over the next few weeks, you will see lots of commotion in the skies over Western Plumas County as PG&E conducts safety inspections of its power lines. Starting today through May 13th you will notice low-flying helicopters, drones, and a number of utility trucks in the area. Autonomous hi-resolution images will be captured during the inspections, so you can expect to see helicopters flying close to power lines and other transmission equipment. Typically from about 250-300 feet above the ground.
The effort is designed to find and fix potential risks to the safety and reliability of PG&E’s grid. PG&E is prioritizing work in areas of extreme (Tier 3) and elevated (Tier 2) wildfire risk designated on the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) High Fire-Threat District Map.
PG&E crews will promptly repair or make safe the highest-priority conditions found through inspections. Crews will repair all other conditions as part of the company’s routine work.
Work will be conducted between the hours of 7am to 6pm.
