Lassen Municipal Utility District will be moving to a new main street location and will help in the progress of growth in Susanville with a new electric vehicle charging station. The power company has just approved the purchase agreement for the old Bank of America building in Uptown for the amount of nearly 540 thousand dollars with the plan to move in once renovations have been completed. With the bigger space, LMUD plans to offer more services for your convenience including drive-thru service, 24hr payment kiosks, and more. Renovations could take up to two years. There is no determined move-in date as of yet.
In addition, LMUD has been awarded a grant that will fund an electric vehicle charging station for the area. The project will be funded by the California Energy Commission in the amount of over 500 thousand dollars. LMUD’s business manager Nick Dominquez said during the board’s July 28th meeting that “The publicly accessible fast-chargers will also promote tourism and economic development in the Historic Uptown Susanville District.” A timeline of these projects as they move along will be updated by LMUD as they are known.
