You can help save a life this Thursday through Lassen Community College’s blood drive. Giving blood is an essential act, and as the spring season arrives, the need for blood donations remains critical. Hospitals and healthcare facilities rely on the generosity of blood donors to help patients who require blood transfusions due to surgery, accidents, and medical conditions such as anemia and cancer. American red Cross says supply can’t always meet demand because only about 3% of age-eligible people donate blood yearly. A single-car accident victim can require as many as 100 units of blood. Blood and platelets cannot be manufactured; they can only come from volunteer donors.
LCC is urging all eligible donors to make an appointment with 25 appointments to fill. Walk-ins are welcome. The blood drive will occur this Thursday from 10 am to 2:30 in the cafeteria.
