A notable item to be discussed this Tuesday, May 21, includes a revisit with the state-funded Homekey grant program, “a statewide effort to sustain and rapidly expand housing for persons experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.” In July of last year, the board unanimously agreed to allow ColWest Investments to apply for a 3 million dollar grant, which was awarded later that year to rehabilitate what is known as the “old Hospital” on Hospital Lane in Susanville.

Also, the supervisors will be asked to approve two agreements with the Regents of the University of California, securing a total of $155,000 to fund spay and neuter services for dogs and cats through the Animal Shelter. This initiative, coordinated by the department and Lassen Humane Society, involves two State-funded grants from the UC Davis Koret Shelter Medicine Program. From 2018-2021, Lassen Humane Society invested approximately $170,000 in animal welfare, including spay and neuter services, but with their funding reserves dwindling, these grants provide a crucial opportunity to continue supporting these essential services in coordination with the Animal Shelter.

The supervisor’s full agenda can be found on the county website.
