The Lassen County Board of Supervisors will have a full agenda in their upcoming Tuesday meeting. The board will address numerous critical issues, including the recovery of administrative fees related to nuisance abatements, often tied to illegal marijuana cultivation in the county.

Two key community presentations are scheduled. Southern Cascades CSD EMS will provide an update on their emergency medical services. Due to financial strains and aging equipment, the district has reduced Advanced Life Support services to limited hours from Wednesday to Sunday. Following this, the County Transportation Commission will discuss ongoing and upcoming improvements to US 395, including lane widening and a new wildlife crossing.

Supervisor Gallagher will introduce a discussion on implementing a countywide sales and use tax to increase revenue, following a recent similar measure in Susanville. The current tax rate in Lassen is one of the lowest in the state at 7.25%.

The agenda also features a dialogue with Tamra Spade, Economic Development Director for the City of Susanville and Susanville Indian Rancheria, to foster economic partnerships. Other significant items include the potential adoption of a new broadcasting strategy for live coverage of the supervisor meetings once moved into the historic courthouse, updates to the county’s Purchasing Policy, and the official naming of conference rooms at the Historic Courthouse.

The board will also consider approving additional funding for the courthouse renovation project and creating a new District Attorney Investigative Assistant position. Agreements with organizations such as Advocates for Human Potential, Inc., and the California Department of Social Services are slated for approval to support services ranging from behavioral health crisis intervention to adoption services.

Lastly, an amendment to increase the contract amount with the California Association of Environmental Health Administrators will be discussed for enhanced management practices.

The board meets Tuesday, May 14, at 9 a.m. at the board chambers on Nevada Street. The agenda can be found on the county’s website.
