Lassen County Office of Education Celebrated as Most Honorable by CSEA

Lassen County, CA – The California School Employees Association (CSEA) has recognized the
Lassen County Office of Education with the “Super Star Award” for being the “Most
Honorable County Office of Education 2024.” The award was presented by CSEA Regional
Representative Deborah Smith to Patricia A. Gunderson, Lassen County Superintendent of
Schools, during a recent visit to celebrate this excellence in education.
This prestigious recognition highlights the Lassen County Office of Education’s dedication to
fostering a supportive and collaborative environment for classified school employees and the
broader educational community.
CSEA, established in 1927 by Oakland custodians seeking retirement benefits, is now the largest
classified school employees union in the United States, representing nearly 250,000 school
support staff across California. Its members play an indispensable role in public schools and
community colleges.
Upon receiving the award, Superintendent Gunderson stated, “It is an incredible honor to accept
this award on behalf of the Lassen County Office of Education. This recognition reflects the hard
work and commitment of our entire team and their dedication to creating a positive impact for
students, staff, and the community.”
