Putting up impressive numbers, the Lassen County Fair sees a dramatic jump in attendance at this year’s 2023 Cotton Candy, Clowns, and Merry Go Rounds Fair.

Fair Manager Kaitlyn Midgley, now with a third year under her belt, weathering COVID and Wildfires during Fair time, has become a well-seasoned and ambitious fair manager, and the numbers don’t lie.

Midgley presented the figures to the Lassen County Board of Supervisors that attendance grew by 47%, with over 31,000 people attending throughout the weekend of fair.

Notably, the most attended day at the fair landed on its final Sunday, with over 8,000 people walking through the gates. This day was also free to Families, contributing to its popularity.

Midgley says some of the success was from reaching outside markets, including Chico, Redding, Klamath Falls, and Reno, promoting the fair and the grandstand events featuring headliner Diamond Rio.

This year’s fair boasted over 70 vendors who reported successful sales. With grandstand shows, including the Miss Lassen Pagaent and Demolition Derby on Sunday, pulling in 156,000 in sales. Midgley reported Friday and Saturday night grandstands profited over 62,000 dollars each, growing by nearly a quarter from last year’s sales.

The search is already on for next year’s fair theme. The Fair Office requests those living in LAssen County to submit their best name for the 2024 Fair inspired by the fair’s Remarkabull logo, with a wild west theme fair twist. The winner will be decided during the Board’s September.
