Lake Almanor Frozen, but Better Days Ahead as Weather Warms

Warmer weather returns for the week, bringing welcoming news for winter anglers.

The Almanor fishing association provided an update on accessing the lake, saying it remains frozen, but there is a promise of better fishing days ahead. As of today, the Canyon Dam and Rec #2 boat launches are frozen in, along with the lake from the tip of the peninsula to Prattville North, and due to the frigid temperatures and precipitation received over the weekend, turning from rain to snow, the Lake level remains unchanged since last week.

Temps are expected to peak into the mid-40s, melting the snowpack into the lake, so the fishing association expects an increase in water temperatures and a rise in lake level. That means more active fish and more bites.
