BURNEY, Calif.—Today, Hat Creek Construction & Materials, Inc. (Hat Creek Construction) announced their construction and aggregate impact throughout California.

Hat Creek Construction is a vertically-integrated, family-owned company that produces raw materials (rock products, asphalt, and concrete) and constructs public, environmental, and commercial projects throughout California.

In 2023, the company contributed to the state’s economy through projects in 10 California counties (Butte, Glenn, Inyo, Lassen, Modoc, Mono, Plumas, Shasta, Siskiyou, and Tehama) and Carson City, Nevada. They created/sustained 150 jobs and distributed $12.5 million in payroll. Hat Creek Construction’s road work placed nearly 267,000 tons of asphalt across nearly 160 miles and recycled over 143,000 tons.

“We faced the prospect of a challenging 2023, anticipating a downturn in released projects,” said Perry Thompson, President and CEO of Hat Creek Construction. “And yet, our resilience prevailed as emergency work surged, amounting to roughly half of our total revenue. We were proud to help repair and rebuild critical infrastructure like the Highway 70 landslides to keep Californians moving. This year’s unexpected opportunities showcased our team’s adaptability and commitment to excellence, and I want to thank everyone for their hard work and camaraderie. I also want to thank our partners across the state who continue to seek our services and expertise.”

In 2024, they are particularly excited about repairing and repaving Highway 44 from the intersection with Highway 36 west of Susanville, heading north approximately 37 miles to the Shasta/Lassen County line. The $27 million Caltrans project is expected to start by summer, and it will employ up to 40 workers daily with over $1.3 million in payroll. Hat Creek will also utilize over 112,000 tons of asphalt and nearly 30,000 tons of aggregates over 110 working days.
