A red flag warning is in effect through 11pm tonight with gusts in the upper ridges at about 40 miles and hour and 30 miles an hour in the valley. Some light rain should move in this evening.

The Dixie fire flared up in the Bogard area along hwy 44 over the weekend and crews worked aggressively with air support and swing shift crews allowing firefighting efforts to remain in the area later into the evening when activity increased. Yet the fire remained in its footprint, with no major increase to total acres burned and remains at 94% containment.

Additionally East Quincy saw a new start, the Johnson fire, yet helicopters and crews from Indian Valley, Crescent Mills and Quincy fire departments quickly extinguished the flames at only one acre.

Today suppression efforts will minimize on the fire by the afternoon with crews shifting back into staging to be able to quickly respond to any increase in activity. A helicopter is also on standby to assist.
