Today you can attend at the Lassen Superior Court the ongoing litigation between the city of Susanville and the State and Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. The Demurrer plea by the department and state will begin. Presiding Judge Moody has stated that this process will take time, yet if successful and the court rule in favor of the state and CDCR, the City of Susanville’s case will be dismissed and thrown out of the courts and possibly solidifying the closure of the California Correctional Center that employs thousands of employees and provides critical fire fighting education opportunities and much-needed boots on the ground during fire season for the region. The hearing begins at 10 am.
