City Council Discusses Budget and Homelessness

The budget and homelessness dominate the City of Susanville’s council meeting this Wednesday.

Public Safety Chief Mike Bollinger will ask the council to approve the police department to work with The United Way of Northern California, a non-profit, to manage a data entry system HUD uses to track homelessness. This is done nationwide through the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). This is said to enable tracking of those who are homeless in and around Susanville and facilitate future partnerships with the county’s Community and Social Services for better support in connecting them with available programs.

Additionally, the city will begin the budget process as the new fiscal year rolls around. A proposed timeline of the adoption schedule is set for approval, which will include selecting new community members for the Sales Tax Oversight Board by the council’s first June meeting.

You can attend the city council meeting this Wednesday in City Hall beginning at 5 pm. The council’s agenda is found on the city’s website.
