The California Highway Patrol is launching a major enforcement campaign along U.S. Highway 395 beginning June 12th.

Officers from the Susanville, Alturas, and Quincy CHP offices will be conducting increased patrols along the corridor stretching from the Oregon border to Nevada.
The campaign focuses on reducing serious injury and fatal crashes by targeting speeding, distracted driving, unsafe passing, impaired driving, and commercial vehicle violations.

The effort comes in response to sobering statistics. Over the past decade, twenty-six fatal crashes have occurred along the Highway 395 corridor between the State Route 36 junction and Red Rock Road. Sixteen of those crashes involved Lassen County residents.

CHP officials are reminding motorists to leave early, stay rested, avoid distractions, wear seat belts, and wait for designated passing lanes rather than taking unnecessary risks on the roadway.

The CHP reminds you that if you see a reckless or suspected impaired driver, call 9-1-1 immediately.
