Junction Fire Update – Sierra County
UPDATE: Fire mapped at 270 acres. Fire crews will remain on scene throughout the day, Cal-Fire is investigating the cause.
The Junction Fire, located southeast of the Elephant Fire in eastern Sierra County, is currently being managed by the U.S. Wildland Fire Service, with assistance from the U.S. Forest Service. Multiple dozers have successfully stopped the forward progression of the fire.
The fire is preliminarily estimated at approximately 100 acres. Fire personnel continue to strengthen containment lines and monitor conditions. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
The Sierra County Sheriff’s Office appreciates the quick response and hard work of the U.S. Wildland Fire Service, the U.S. Forest Service, and all cooperating agencies. Additional updates will be provided as information becomes available.
