The Spalding Volunteer Fire Department remains active and was not shut down by CAL-OSHA or CAL-OES.
There is a discrepancy of what is required for training/ certificates for our crew to respond to an emergency. As a precaution the choice was made by the board of directors to restrict SCSD department to only respond to catastrophic events that include but not limited to: structure fires, wildland fires that could spread to/ threaten our community and major traffic incidents. This does include our mutual aid area. CALFIRE Grasshopper station on the north shore and CALFIRE Eagle Station on the south shore are manned at this time and if they are able will still be coming for mutual aid. Stones-Bengard Volunteer Fire Department still will be coming if a catastrophic event such as described previously occurs. We are working to get this clarified ASAP. This discrepency has the potential to affect all volunteer fire departments in the state of California. As soon as we have more information we will be notifying the community
