Chester Cemetary is rising from the ashes with generous donations from the Lake Almanor Foundation.
Nearly destroyed in the 2021 Dixie Fire, the cemetery lost all of its equipment and multiple structures and was left with hazardous large trees surrounding the property.
Yet, with the help of 19,000 dollars in donations from the ALmanor Foundations Charitable Impact fund, phase one of the landscaping project has been completed with the planting of young trees and shrubs to replace the ones destroyed in the fire.
The cemetery will continue to improve the grounds, as the facility’s office building is also nearing completion.
