Caltrans and Hat Creek begin Phase 2 of SR70 sinkhole repairs. The sinkhole appeared over winter due to oversaturated grounds. Initial repairs were made when the weather cleared, yet final repairs were needed. If you are traveling Hwy 70 near Beckwourth today, be aware of the slowdown between Beckwourth Calpine Road and County Road A24 as those final steps are complete.
Caltrans says to plan ahead for 24/7 traffic control with 15-minute delays. The work will be completed by noon on Friday.
