Personnel from the CAL FIRE Lassen-Modoc Unit recently partnered with the Milford Fire Department and a local landowner to successfully execute a 450-acre prescribed burn in the area of Wemple’s Pumpkin Patch, located north of Highway 395.
The targeted operation focused on burning excess vegetation and managing noxious weeds across the landscape. Prescribed fire serves as a critical proactive tool for wildfire prevention—reducing dangerous fuel accumulation, enhancing ecological health, and lowering the overall risk of severe wildfires spreading to nearby ranchlands and local communities.
Fire officials extended their appreciation to all crew members, partner agencies, and community members for their hard work and cooperation in completing the project safely.
