A bust at Bordertown after a man leads Sierra County deputies on a manhunt. The dramatic incident unfolded on July 12th, as Sierra County Deputies raced to Long Valley Road in response to a distressed man’s 911 call. According to the caller, he was being pursued by federal agents, and he claimed to have sustained a gunshot wound to his leg, resulting in profuse bleeding.
At arrival, Sierra County’s K9 Deputy spotted the man on Long Valley Road near Bordertown. To the Deputy’s surprise, the individual was armed with a rifle and was seen heading into the national forest land. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle the man had abandoned was reported stolen out of West Sacramento.
Concerned for their safety, the Deputy awaited additional backup before proceeding. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, a California Highway Patrol helicopter joined the search efforts. However, despite the combined resources, the exhaustive search was reluctantly called off around 2:00 am.
Sierra County Deputies resumed their search the next morning. With the help of a good samaritan making a remarkable discovery, the subject was discovered only a few hours later, hiding in dense shrubbery.
Deputies immediately approached the man and discovered that he was under the influence of meth, experiencing severe drug-induced psychosis. In light of these findings, the man was promptly arrested on multiple charges, including possession of a firearm as a drug addict, possession of a stolen vehicle, and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
Sierra County authorities are commending the collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the public’s vigilance, which ultimately led to the successful apprehension of the suspect. As the investigation unfolds, officials are working to piece together the events, shedding light on the motives and circumstances surrounding this incident.
