A fire at the Bass Hill landfill over the weekend has suspended operations today.
Calfire’s lassen modoc unit says the fire broke out just after 5 pm on Saturday, July 1st. A large black column of smoke could be seen with licks of flames coming from the burning debris. The fire was located in a rubbish pile without threat to nearby structures or vegetation. Additional resources were called in and the fire was quickly contained.
The dump will remain closed throughout today.
