Training alert from Feather River College: this morning, the campus will be the grounds for an Active Shooter Training Exercise and Simulation.
This will be a joint-operation law enforcement training that also involves a simulation exercise to help better prepare law enforcement for responding to an active shooter threat.
The college is warning those on campus, students, and staff that you will hear gunshots on campus as the police will be shooting blanks during this training.
Administrators say that while there have not been any known threats to Feather River College, the college offers the ideal location in its offices for conducting joint-operation training exercises.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is leading this training. They are limited in their training dates and access to the training materials, so the dates were not flexible.
The college acknowledges the impacts on students and staff not involved but stresses that those who are participating will benefit from the knowledge gained during the training. It asks that if you are on campus today that you remain flexible during the exercise.
