In an exciting milestone for Lassen Community College, the gym has undergone a remarkable transformation, its first significant upgrade in over 5 decades, bringing a fresh and modern look to the facility. This ambitious project owes its success to the dedicated efforts of numerous individuals and teams.
Interim Athletic Director and Men’s Basketball Coach, Will Freedman, expressed his satisfaction, stating, “It was a long process, but the end result is incredible.”
To cherish these memories, Freedman initiated a fundraising effort whereby pieces of the original floor are being sent to coaches and players. Moreover, former players, coaches, fans, and the community at large are welcome to contribute and preserve their memories with a piece of the original floor.
The revitalized gym serves as a testament to the college’s commitment to its students and athletes. Freedman acknowledged that the renovation was made possible through the collaborative efforts of LCC President Carie Camacho, who allocated funding, and the supportive administrative board, who approved and endorsed the initiative.
As the fall and winter sports seasons approach, Freedman encourages everyone to visit the gym and witness the stunning transformation firsthand, with a friendly reminder to wipe their feet at the door.
