A 140 million dollar US Forest Service Type II Initial Attack Handcrew Contract award to Firestorm Wildland Suppression, Inc of Chico will bring in 600 new professional firefighters to battle blazes throughout the state. The additional benefit comes as these crews will also be able to conduct much needed critical forest health projects around local communities that have proven to be effective in mitigating catastrophic wildfires. The contract February 8th of this year and lasts through February 7th of 2027.
