It will cost you more to golf this season (as the city council approves fee increases). A surge of new golfers emerged from the pandemic that brought benefits to the Diamond Mountain Golf Course, including a longer season starting in March and extending into November, as well as improvements to the clubhouse and greens. Yet, due to the rise in golfers, maintenance and staffing costs have also increased with more play. During the council’s January 4th meeting, the board approved adjusting the fees to pre-pandemic prices. City Administrator Dan Newton shared that green fees will go up by five dollars, 10 play punch cards by ten dollars, and annual memberships will increase by 100 dollars. The city will also remove the Senior discount for cart rentals. Fees were initially reduced in 2020 in response to the pandemic helping spur new golfers’ growth. However, fee adjustments need to match the current economy to continue improvements.
