Smoke is to be visible in the Almanor Ranger District starting this week as the Lassen National Forest allows for a pile burn project to start in two locations. One will start at Panther Springs, known as the Boondocks Hand Piles, and the second at Butte Meadows, the Lotts Machine Piles. The burning is meant to reduce hazardous fuels near our communities. All burning in the Lassen National Forest is done under specific weather and fuel conditions, to help fire managers with future fire starts in the area.
