A fire broke out at the Bass Hill landfill around sundown on Tuesday. Calfire Lassen Modoc Unit spokesperson confirmed the fire broke out within a pile of refuse. Three Calfire engines and one Susanville Engine assisted in knocking down the flames. The fire was contained to a spot no larger than a school bus. The cause is under investigation.
