The Bureau of Land Management says there are new grants available for you and private partners to support the management and protection of wild horses and burros. This will be the department’s second year inviting proposals for wild horse and burro projects through the funding opportunity. Grant sizes can range from 1,000 to 50,000 dollars. Proposed off-range projects will be accepted until October 31st which may include placing excess animals into private care or public educational outreach. Projects that support on-range activities like habitat improvement or fertility control can submit from November 1st to January 31st of next year. You can visit the Notice of Funding Opportunity at grants.gov if you are interested. The funding opportunity is open to local and state governments, tribes, and other federal agencies and nonprofit organizations.
