A transient camp sparks a grass fire at old mill site during a high wind event. On Saturday as winds gusted over 30mph, Susanville Fire, CalFire, a water tender from Standish Litchfield Fire, and a US Forest Service dozer quickly responded to the incident that blanketed the children’s fair at the fairgrounds in smoke. The quick response kept the fire to one acre in size. A homeless camp was likely the cause according to Assistant Chief Hernandez with the Susanville Fire Department.
