Butterfly Valley’s prescribed burn stalled at only 15 acres of its 250 acre goal. The Mt. Hough Ranger district stopped the burn due to the high winds and continuing rise in temperatures and drying fuels. With the weather not expected to improve over the week the burn has been paused. Yesterday crews mopped up and monitored the 15 acres that were completed. Unless there is a significant change in conditions, including increased fuel moisture, Mount Hough Ranger District fire managers will shift from prescribed burning activities to preparations for the upcoming summer field and fire season.
